Colorado Symphony and Civic Center Conservancy Announce FREE July 3 Concert

PRLog (Press Release)– Jun 14, 2011– The Civic Center Conservancy and the Colorado Symphony announce details for their second-annual free community concert and fireworks display on Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Denver's Civic Center Park (Colfax & Broadway) beginning at 8:00 p.m. Renamed CBS4 Independence Eve presented by BBVA Compass, the event is free and open to the public - coinciding with the beginning of the Colorado Symphony's summer season and the completion of Better Denver bond-funded restoration of Civic Center's Broadway Terrace. CBS4 will broadcast the event live statewide from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.

"An iconic tradition was born in Civic Center Park last year - one that celebrates community, culture, country and our historic Civic Center itself," said Civic Center Conservancy Executive Director Lindy Eichenbaum Lent. "Independence Eve in Civic Center Park has already become a popular Denver tradition," said Colorado Symphony President & CEO James W. Palermo. The Colorado Symphony concert will be led by Resident Conductor Scott O'Neil and feature the "Star Spangled Banner" (Key), "Fanfare for the Common Man" (Copland), "Jubilee" from "Symphonic Sketches" (Chadwi dodge ck), "Three Dance Episodes" from "On the Town" (Bernstein), "A Lincoln Portrait" (Copland), "Armed Forces Salute" (Arr. Lowden), "Overture 1812" (Tchaikovsky), "America bmw the Beautiful" (Ward), "Colonel Bogey March" (Ricketts), "Stars & Stripes Forever" (Sousa).

The CBS4 Independence Eve Celebration presented by BBVA Compass will be accented with an innovative light show on the Denver City and County Building and a stunning fireworks display. Lawn seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis; arriving early is greatly encouraged, as are blankets or low-rise concert/beach chairs. Attendees are welcome to bring their own picnics; concessions will also be available on-site. The event will take place rain or shine.
