Your Baby Can, LLC, producers of the award-winning early language development system Your Baby Can Read!®, recently completed their shoot for O2 Media's hit morning TV show "Th car news e Balancing Act."  The segment, which features Tim Seldin, a teacher and early childhood education expert, will air in July on Lifetime Television. Seldin discusses the importance of early learning and the role it plays in a child acura s life.

Contrary to what many people may think, the most important years of a child's education are not during high school or college, but actually from birth to age six.  It is during this time that a child's brain goes through key stages of development and begins to rapidly absorb information that will influence their life for years to come.  With the right tools, parents can take advantage of this window of opportunity and teach their children skills that last a lifetime.

"While I will always prefer taking a child on a hike or out to work in the garden, children are drawn to computers and TV," Seldin says.  "If parents choose quality programs like Your Child Can Discover!®, however, they can enhance the learning environment at home through these mediums.  The Balancing Act is a great opportunity to communicate the importance of early learning to an audience of concerned parents."

The right educational programming can make a big difference in a child's life, but it's also important to continue that learning throughout their day.  Seldin suggests to parents to not use "baby talk" and encourages them to teach their children the correct names for things around them – starting at birth.  He also emphasizes the importance of independence and self-confidence in a child's development, as well as hands-on activity to stimulate the learning process.  Arts, crafts, and games can help kids learn problem solving skills and begin to recognize patterns in the world around them.

"Montessori said that we should learn to follow the child," Seldin comments.  "Let them show us what interests them and how they learn best. Really pay attention to your child and approach parenting with the deepest respect for your child as a person."
