Havel's library to move to 16th-century palace

The Vaclav Havel Library, now located at two different locations in the capital, is a nongovernment organization dedicated to his life and works and modern Czech history. It was inspired by American presidential libraries.

The palace is located near the monumental Czech Foreign Ministry and only few minutes walk from the Prague Castle, where Havel spent 13 years as president.

A 200-million koruna ($11.4 million) reconstruction of the palace to suit its new purpose has been designed by Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill. It still must be approved by conservationists.

The library was established in 2004, a year after Havel left office.
