WorleyParsons and AVEVA to demonstrate at FIATECH

PRLog (Press Release)– Apr 18, 2011– HOUSTON, Americas, 18 April 2011: AVEVA Inc. (LSE: AVV), a leader in engineering design and information management solutions to the plant, power and marine industries, will deliver a joint case study with global EPC firm WorleyParsons on acura the business value of ISO 15926 interoperability at the 2011 FIATECH Technology Conference and Showcase. This year's event takes place April 18-20 at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort in Chandler, AZ. The case study presentation will be on Monday, April 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Akimel O'otham – 2 ballroom.

AVEVA's Neil McPhater, Product Marketing Manager – Interoperability, and WorleyParson's Randy Williams, Vice President – Integrated Systems, will examine how ISO 15926 interoperability has resulted in more efficient lifecycle asset management at a major U.K. North Sea J-Block project being designed by WorleyParsons.

McPhater and Williams will specifically examine how the EPC sought to improve the quality of front-end engineering design at ConocoPhillips' Jasmine Field platforms by managing inconsistency between P&ID and the 3D plant model. Using AVEVA's ISO 15926-compliant AVEVA Schematic Model Manager, AVEVA Schematic 3D Integrator and AVEVA PDMS, WorleyParsons took advantag bmw e of its existing investment in P&IDs from other software vendors.  The result was a more efficient engineering process that realized significant cost savings.

McPhater said, "It is very impressive to see a progressive EPC like WorleyParsons take advantage of ISO 15926 to benefit one of its major oil & gas projects so soon after this data exchange capability was brought to market.  Even more exciting is that this AVEVA interoperability solution, effectively linking P&IDs and 3D plant models together in a neutral, non-proprietary way, was developed under the auspices of FIATECH as part of the Proteus initiative".

Williams added, "WorleyParsons has utilized ISO 15926 interoperability function car news ality to harness data comparison and validation between two disparate vendor provided solutions on the Jasmine Project.  The value of vendor compatibility with ISO 15926 opens a wealth of opportunity to further automate and allow productivity enhancements in our execution workflow.  Working with AVEVA we were able to provide an integrated approach to our specific requirement which has allowed us to prove the broad ranging potential in the utilization of ISO 15926 in adding business value to our project delivery services."
